First of all, thank you so much to everyone who has been emailing, calling and texting to check on Chris. We have definitely felt a lot of love. In fact, Chris has his own message for you guys:
We got Chris’ lab work back today and he tested negative for Gout which is a relief. He has an MRI scheduled tomorrow to check the meniscus and other ligaments/tendons. Thursday, he has a follow up with the orthopedist to go over the results.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. There’s a good chance he’s going to need surgery (he’s already had two knee surgeries on that knee) which is absolutely frightening. It’s an out patient procedure, but it will leave him incapacitated for a few weeks, which will be a challenge.
However, my bigger concern is just getting him well and to his 100% happy self. This has definitely taken a toll on us, but especially him. He does not like to be restricted or confined, so being forced onto the couch, constantly icing and elevating his leg has been nothing short of miserable. He was prescribed Tylenol with codeine to help with the pain, but it’s leaving him with killer headaches that are worse than a hangover. At this point, he’s just choosing pain to avoid the awful headaches. I hate feeling so helpless.
Here’s to hoping we get a firm diagnosis and action plan sooner than later.
Thanks again for all of your thoughts. :)
