Rookie Hazing…Oh my, my…

Being the great baseball fan that I am, I was shocked to learn about “rookie hazing” today. It’s something I’ve never heard of, and although it sounds negative, it’s actually quite hilarious.

When it’s least suspected, the hazing commences. During a game, players who are new to the team (on the roster for a year or less) clothes mysteriously disappear and are replaced by ridiculous costumes that the rookies must wear. This tradition typically occurs on a day that the players have to travel for their next game, forcing them to fly in their given costume.

Hilarity ensues, showing that baseball players can laugh at themselves. My favorite theme is the Boston Red Sox in their High School Musical attire.

This made my day.
